Overview
The Night Residential Care Worker role is with The Good Shepherd Centre (GSC) on the campus just outside Bishopton. GSC provides a safe, nurturing environment for young people with on-site education options and access to outdoor facilities. This is an opportunity to join a dedicated team focused on relational practice and improving outcomes for vulnerable young people.
Responsibilities
- Promote and uphold the vision and values of GSC as a place of care, safety and learning.
- Support young people to meet their needs, achieve their goals and build hope for their future as part of a team.
- Engage with young people to help them flourish, using person-centred approaches and maintaining a safe and nurturing environment.
- Assist with education and skills development in line with individual plans, focusing on mental and emotional wellbeing and longer-term positive outcomes.
- Adhere to legislative, procedural and best practice requirements and engage in ongoing professional development.
- Collaborate with families, carers and professionals to support young people and their families.
- Participate in the recruitment, training and development processes as part of the team.
Qualifications
- Experience in Residential Child Care or a related field is preferred.
- Commitment to Children’s Rights.
- Willingness to achieve or possess a Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Social Care and the Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) in Caring for Children and Young People at Level 3 or above, or equivalent qualifications recognized by the SSSC.
- Ability to apply for registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) as a registered supervisor within the first three months of employment and to be registered within six months of employment.
- Prepared to undergo pre-employment checks including PVG scheme clearance and, if applicable, Overseas Criminal Record Checks.
Requirements & Process
- Pre-Employment Medical Questionnaires will be undertaken prior to confirmation of employment.
- All convictions, spent or unspent, must be declared as part of the application process.
- Role is regulated work with children under the PVG (Scotland) Act 2007.
- Offer of employment is contingent on satisfactory PVG checks and any required overseas checks.
