You will be joining a well-established and growing building services engineering consultancy with a strong presence in Glasgow and across the UK. With over five decades of experience, the business delivers mechanical, electrical, public health and sustainability-led design solutions to both public and private sector clients.
Due to recent project wins and continued growth, the consultancy is expanding its electrical design team and is now seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to support ongoing and upcoming projects. The company is known for its collaborative culture, long-term staff retention and commitment to technical quality and professional development.
As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will take full technical ownership of electrical design packages across a range of commercial and refurbishment/fit-out projects, managing work from concept through to detailed design and delivery. You will act as a technical lead on projects, confidently engaging with clients, coordinating across disciplines and supporting the development of less experienced engineers within the team. This opportunity is available as an immediate start, driven by workload secured through recent project awards.
Key Responsibilities:- Leading the electrical design on commercial, public-sector and fit-out projects.
- Delivery of lighting, power, emergency lighting, small power and containment designs.
- Producing calculations and layouts using Amtech, Dialux and AutoCAD.
- Leading project and design team meetings, both internally and externally.
- Acting as a key point of contact for clients, providing confident, professional technical advice.
- Coordinating closely with mechanical engineers, sustainability teams, architects and other consultants.
- Managing design programmes, quality standards and technical compliance.
- Mentoring and supporting junior and intermediate engineers, providing technical guidance and review.
- Undertaking site visits to ensure design intent is maintained through construction.
- Proven experience working at Senior Electrical Design Engineer level, or clear evidence of operating to senior level within your current or previous role.
- Chartered (CEng) or working toward Chartership is desirable, but not essential.
- Proficient in Amtech, Dialux and AutoCAD and other electrical design software.
- Ability to work independently, manage projects and lead design activities.
- Confident and professional client-facing communication skills.
- Experience coordinating designs across multiple engineering disciplines.
- Solid understanding of current UK standards and regulations.
- Full UK driving licence (essential).
