Job Purpose
Queens Cross Housing Association is an award-winning social landlord based in the northwest of Glasgow. Queens Cross Group includes a Registered Social Landlord, a property management subsidiary (Queens Cross Factoring) and a social enterprise which lets commercial property (Queens Cross Workspace). Recognised for its innovation, quality services and high performance, Queens Cross Housing Association is looking to appoint a Finance Manager within our Business Services team. This is a varied and important role, providing specialist financial expertise across our subsidiary companies and playing a key role in financial performance, income maximisation, regulatory compliance and service improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day financial accounting processes for Queens Cross Factoring, Queens Cross Workspace and related companies, including management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, reconciliations and financial reporting.
- Lead the quarterly billing process for factored owners and monthly billing for commercial and mid-market rent tenants, ensuring accurate and timely invoicing and cost recovery.
- Manage the arrears and debt recovery process, negotiating payment arrangements and determining appropriate action, including legal and court proceedings, to maximise income.
- Prepare and submit key financial and regulatory returns, including VAT, Property Factors Registration and ARC returns, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, title deeds and factoring requirements.
- Manage and develop a small team of Finance/Credit Control staff, supporting high performance, excellent customer service and continuous learning and development.
- Provide financial advice and performance information to senior management and Boards, while identifying opportunities to improve processes, systems, value for money and the overall customer experience.
Essential Criteria
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a finance role, including experience of setting and managing budgets.
- Recognised accounting qualification and degree-level qualification in finance or a related field.
- Experience of effective arrears management and debt recovery, including knowledge of legal procedures.
- Experience of developing and implementing financial policies, procedures and controls.
- Experience of managing and motivating a team to achieve high performance.
- Strong knowledge of business planning, financial accounting, VAT and relevant Scottish legislation/court processes, with excellent analytical, organisational, communication and negotiation skills.
