Responsibilities:
- Play a vital role in ensuring high quality delivery of SC’s internal M&E asset inspection programmes, management of data and communication between key Asset Management Enablers.
- Play a critical part in ensuring legal compliance and the safe operation of M&E equipment across the network.
- Act as Senior Authorised Person to oversee the entire lifecycle of M&E systems and equipment.
- Carry out M&E Asset inspections, providing serviceability scoring, condition grading and recommendations for safe and prolonged serviceability of M&E assets in line with our Asset Inspection Procedures.
- Maintain and develop systems to ensure compliance with regulations, Scottish Canals policies and procedures and Scottish Canals KPI’s.
The role is offered on a permanent basis, and with a starting salary of £41,264 (Band E) plus £850 Outdoor Working allowance. Working hours 35 hours per week, Monday - Friday. Scottish Canals offer a generous annual leave entitlement of 28 days, plus 10 public holidays, along with enhanced sick pay, discounted shopping vouchers, health cash plan and a contributory pension scheme with up to 10% employer contribution.
Qualifications and Knowledge Required:
- Degree (or equivalent) in a related discipline.
- External certification in relevant fields.
- Membership of appropriate professional body e.g. IEE or IET.
- Mechanical and Electrical engineering expertise.
- Asset Management principles.
- Scottish Canals’ asset base and canal network.
- Heritage and Environmental principles.
Skills and Experience Required:
- M&E asset inspections.
- Technical reporting.
- Previous use of asset management/inspection software.
- Work planning/prioritisation.
- Ability to explain engineering concepts to non-engineering audience.
- Proficient in use of MS office.
- General heritage and environment awareness.
Qualities & Abilities Required:
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Full driving licence essential.
- Ability and willingness to travel across the whole canal network.
- Self-starter and self-motivator.
