One of the country's largest, most successful and award-winning multidisciplinary engineering consultancies. They have multiple offices across the UK and a solid reputation for successful project delivery throughout the Built Environment. Projects can vary from small works to 100m+ across Education, Heritage, High-End Residential, Cultural, Laboratories and more. They have a modern, open-plan office space with exposure to designing a wide range of electrical systems across multiple jobs and an excellent support system in place for staff training and development. They are currently seeking an Electrical or Senior Design Engineer to join their Edinburgh office.

Role

  • Ensuring an understanding of project briefs.
  • Design and specification of all Electrical Building Services systems.
  • Design and specification of all Electrical Building Services systems - power, earthing, lighting, life safety, telecoms, security, access control, lifts, lightning protection, etc.
  • Carry out (and managing of others), the production of detailed calculations using industry standard software tools including Excel, Dialux, Amtech, in-house developed tools, etc.
  • Representing the organisation at meetings with clients and contractors.
  • Site surveys, inspections and monitoring of site works.
  • Report and technical note writing.
  • Maintaining complete records and archives to company standards.
  • Adherence to all quality, environmental and governance processes.

Qualifications / Experience

  • Degree or HND/HNC in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in electrical design within a building services consultancy or contractor environment.
  • Strong knowledge of UK building regulations and standards, including BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations).
  • Experience producing detailed electrical design calculations and drawings (lighting, power, small power, containment, earthing, fire alarm, data, etc.).
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Right to work in the UK.
