The Role
As Technical Product Owner, you will sit at the centre of Product, Technology and User Experience, owning the product roadmap and helping to define the future direction of a growing digital platform. This is far more than a traditional backlog management role. You'll be expected to think strategically, identify opportunities for growth, challenge existing processes and ensure product decisions deliver measurable value for customers and the business.
You'll work closely with Development, UX, Operations and Commercial teams, balancing customer needs, technical requirements and business objectives to drive continuous improvement and innovation. The successful candidate will be comfortable operating in a scale-up environment where priorities can evolve quickly, decisions need to be made at pace and adaptability is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Strategy & Ownership
- Own and develop the product vision, roadmap and long-term strategy.
- Drive product initiatives from discovery through to delivery and optimisation.
- Identify opportunities to improve customer experience, operational efficiency and revenue growth.
- Define and monitor product KPIs and success metrics.
- Ensure product investment aligns with wider business objectives and growth plans.
- Platform Development & Technology
- Collaborate closely with software engineering teams to deliver scalable technology solutions.
- Translate business requirements into clear product specifications and technical deliverables.
- Prioritise platform enhancements, feature development and integration opportunities.
- Contribute to decisions regarding platform architecture, APIs, integrations and future technology investments.
- Maintain a strong understanding of technical capabilities, dependencies and constraints.
- User Experience & Customer Journey
- Partner with UX and Design teams to optimise customer journeys and platform usability.
- Champion user-centred design principles and data-driven decision making.
- Leverage customer feedback, analytics and behavioural insights to identify improvement opportunities.
- Validate concepts, user flows and product features before development begins.
- Ensure every product decision balances customer value with commercial outcomes.
- Stakeholder Management
- Act as the key link between Product, Engineering, UX and Business stakeholders.
- Facilitate product workshops, discovery sessions and roadmap planning activities.
- Present product priorities, progress updates and business cases to senior leadership.
- Build strong cross-functional relationships and influence decision-making across the organisation.
About You
We're looking for an experienced Product professional who enjoys working in dynamic, growth-focused businesses and can confidently operate across both strategic and technical discussions.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Technical Product Owner, Product Owner, Product Manager or Digital Product Manager.
- Experience owning digital products, SaaS platforms, marketplace platforms or customer-facing technology solutions.
- Strong understanding of Agile software development methodologies.
- Experience working closely with Software Engineers, Developers and UX teams.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to balance business, customer and technical priorities.
- Experience using customer insights, analytics and performance data to drive product decisions.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication and presentation skills.
Desirable Experience
- Experience within SaaS, Marketplace, E-commerce, Ticketing or Transactional Platforms.
- Knowledge of APIs, integrations and cloud-based technologies.
- Understanding of payments, customer journeys and digital commerce.
- Experience working within a high-growth, scale-up or fast-paced technology business.
- Familiarity with product discovery frameworks and user research methodologies.
