The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Azure Data Platform Manager to lead the development, delivery, and evolution of enterprise data solutions across a multi-market European environment.
This is a highly visible role focused on enabling data-driven decision making through the design, implementation, and optimisation of modern Azure-based data platforms. Working closely with business stakeholders, IT teams, and senior leadership, you will drive the adoption of scalable, secure, and high-performing data solutions that support strategic insights, commercial planning, and operational excellence.
You will act as the bridge between business and technology, ensuring data platforms deliver measurable business value while maintaining the highest standards of governance, security, and performance.
Key Responsibilities
Azure Data Platform Strategy & Leadership
- Define and execute the Azure Data Platform roadmap aligned to business objectives.
- Partner with business stakeholders to identify opportunities for enhanced data-driven decision making.
- Lead the design and implementation of modern Azure-based data solutions.
- Maximise value from existing data assets while identifying new internal and external data opportunities.
- Conduct fit-gap analysis across data sources, models, and platforms to drive continuous improvement.
- Champion data innovation and best practice across the organisation.
Data Platform Delivery
- Design, build, and manage enterprise-scale Azure data solutions.
- Deliver and support data ingestion, transformation, storage, analytics, and reporting capabilities.
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture, Security, and Data teams to ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and compliant.
- Lead the rollout and adoption of regional and global data platforms.
- Oversee data migration, platform enhancements, and system implementations.
- Ensure analytical platforms maintain the highest levels of data quality, integrity, and reliability.
Platform Operations & Governance
- Own the operational management of the Azure data platform estate.
- Manage incidents, service improvements, platform enhancements, and change requests.
- Ensure adherence to governance, compliance, security, and architectural standards.
- Monitor platform performance, availability, and cost optimisation initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement through automation, monitoring, and DevOps best practices.
- Manage third-party vendors and external delivery partners to ensure successful outcomes.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Build strong relationships with business leaders across multiple markets.
- Lead cross-functional project teams and coordinate complex data initiatives.
- Manage budgets, contracts, and technology investments.
- Present data strategies, recommendations, and platform roadmaps to senior stakeholders.
- Promote collaboration and knowledge sharing across regional and global teams.
Technical Skills & Experience
Essential
- Proven experience leading and managing Azure Data Platforms.
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Azure Data Factory (ADF)
- Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS)
- Azure Databricks
- Azure SQL
- Azure Synapse Analytics
- Microsoft Power Platform
- Strong understanding of Azure PaaS services and resource monitoring.
- Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methodologies.
- Strong SQL skills with experience in Python and PySpark.
- Experience designing and supporting enterprise data architectures.
- Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance frameworks.
- Strong project delivery and stakeholder management experience.
Desirable
- Microsoft Azure certifications.
- Experience working within FMCG or large multinational environments.
- Exposure to advanced analytics, data science, or AI initiatives.
- Experience managing multi-country data programmes.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Fabric.
