About the Role

This is a proactive, field-based business development position responsible for the London region , reporting to the Commercial Department. Your primary focus will be identifying and securing new business opportunities, while managing and expanding relationships with existing clients.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Building strong, long-term relationships through regular site visits, calls, and emails
  • Targeting new markets such as construction, demolition, manufacturing, automotive dismantlers, and dealers
  • Developing and updating actionable plans in collaboration with your Line Manager
  • Managing pricing for standard and non-standard materials, staying informed on market trends
  • Supporting tenders and maintaining accurate contract documentation
  • Using company systems for data input, contract management, and communication
  • Participating in meetings and business reviews, contributing to shared commercial goals
  • Identifying and liaising with haulage providers and promoting skip services
  • Deputising for colleagues when required and fulfilling general business duties

About You

You are a results-driven and self-motivated individual with excellent communication skills and a strong commercial mindset. You thrive in a fast-paced, target-driven environment and enjoy working both independently and as part of a team.

Essential:

  • Previous experience in the scrap metal recycling industry
  • A proven track record in business development and client relationship management
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • A-level education or equivalent
  • Proficiency in IT systems relevant to the role
  • Full, clean UK driving license

Desirable:

  • Degree or relevant qualifications in business or marketing
  • Knowledge of environmental and quality standards in metal recycling
  • Experience with compliance and regulatory practices within the industry
