About the Role
This is a proactive, field-based business development position responsible for the London region , reporting to the Commercial Department. Your primary focus will be identifying and securing new business opportunities, while managing and expanding relationships with existing clients.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building strong, long-term relationships through regular site visits, calls, and emails
- Targeting new markets such as construction, demolition, manufacturing, automotive dismantlers, and dealers
- Developing and updating actionable plans in collaboration with your Line Manager
- Managing pricing for standard and non-standard materials, staying informed on market trends
- Supporting tenders and maintaining accurate contract documentation
- Using company systems for data input, contract management, and communication
- Participating in meetings and business reviews, contributing to shared commercial goals
- Identifying and liaising with haulage providers and promoting skip services
- Deputising for colleagues when required and fulfilling general business duties
About You
You are a results-driven and self-motivated individual with excellent communication skills and a strong commercial mindset. You thrive in a fast-paced, target-driven environment and enjoy working both independently and as part of a team.
Essential:
- Previous experience in the scrap metal recycling industry
- A proven track record in business development and client relationship management
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- A-level education or equivalent
- Proficiency in IT systems relevant to the role
- Full, clean UK driving license
Desirable:
- Degree or relevant qualifications in business or marketing
- Knowledge of environmental and quality standards in metal recycling
- Experience with compliance and regulatory practices within the industry
