Senior Support Worker – Children’s Residential Home

We are recruiting for Senior Support Workers to join a dedicated Children’s Residential Home team in Wallasey (CH44).
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced care professional who is passionate about supporting children and young people and wants to play a key role in providing high-quality residential care.
As a Senior Support Worker, you will support the day-to-day running of the home, provide guidance to the wider care team, and ensure young people receive consistent, safe, and person-centred support.
You will help create a positive environment where children and young people feel valued, supported, and able to achieve their goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality residential care and support to children and young people.
- Act as a positive role model and promote a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment.
- Support young people’s emotional, physical, social, and educational development.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with young people, families, colleagues, and external professionals.
- Support the implementation and review of individual care plans.
- Ensure young people’s views, wishes, and feelings are listened to and respected.
- Promote safeguarding and follow child protection procedures at all times.
- Support and guide junior members of the team.
- Assist with shift planning and ensure care standards are maintained.
- Complete accurate records, daily logs, incident reports, and relevant documentation.
- Support young people with daily routines, activities, appointments, and personal development.
- Contribute to team meetings, reviews, and ongoing improvements within the home.
- Support positive behaviour management using safe care approaches.
- Undertake sleep-in duties as part of the role.
Essential Requirements
- Experience working within a Children’s Residential Home or similar care setting.
- Level 3 Diploma/NVQ in Children and Young People desirable for the qualified rate.
- Strong understanding of Safeguarding, Child Protection, and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Ability to build positive relationships and communicate effectively with young people.
- Good written skills with the ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
- A caring, patient, and resilient approach.
- Ability to work as part of a team and support colleagues.
- Full UK driving licence is essential.
