Team Leader | Children’s Residential Care
Location: Leyland
Salary: £29,600 per annum + £50 per sleep-in
Hours: Full-time, average 40 hours per week
Shift Pattern: 2 on / 4 off, including days, evenings, waking nights, weekends, bank holidays, sleep-ins and lone working
The Role
We are looking for an experienced and confident Team Leader to join a children’s residential service supporting young people aged 12–18.
Working closely with the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the home, providing strong leadership to the staff team while ensuring young people receive safe, consistent and child-centred care.
This is a hands‑on leadership position, combining direct care with staff supervision, safeguarding responsibilities and operational oversight. You will help maintain high standards of care and support the service in meeting Ofsted regulations and achieving positive outcomes for young people.
Requirements
- Significant experience working with children or young people within a residential care setting
- Previous experience supervising or supporting a staff team
- Strong understanding of safeguarding, child development and behaviour management
- Good knowledge of Ofsted regulations and quality standards
- Experience completing care plans, risk assessments and professional records
- Ability to manage challenging situations calmly and effectively
- Level 3 Diploma for Children and Young People or equivalent
- Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills
- Enhanced DBS check
- Full UK driving licence desirable
