The Role
As a Business Engagement Coordinator – Telesales, you will be responsible for engaging with new, existing and lapsed businesses through high-volume outbound telesales and telephone-based lead generation. You will act as an initial point of contact for employers, introducing apprenticeship programmes, understanding workforce development requirements and identifying qualified sales opportunities for Business Development Managers. The role combines B2B telesales, outbound calling, lead generation, employer engagement, apprenticeship sales, CRM management and business development support, making it ideal for someone who enjoys a target-driven and fast-paced sales environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Make high-volume outbound telesales calls to new, existing and lapsed business clients to promote apprenticeship programmes and training solutions.
- Generate, qualify and develop employer leads before passing suitable opportunities to Business Development Managers for follow-up.
- Build initial relationships with employers by understanding their workforce development requirements and providing relevant information about apprenticeship provision.
- Follow up marketing campaigns and contribute to targeted telesales, employer engagement and lead generation activity.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date CRM records, ensuring client interactions, opportunities and follow-up activity are recorded effectively.
- Achieve individual call, telesales, lead generation and KPI targets while contributing positively to wider business growth.
- Keep informed about apprenticeship funding opportunities, sector developments and regulatory changes to support effective employer conversations.
- Use technology confidently, including Microsoft Office, CRM platforms, learner management systems and Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs), to support telesales and business engagement activity.
- Maintain strong working relationships across the organisation and contribute to wider sales campaigns, projects and business development initiatives.
- Maintain professional standards around data protection, safeguarding, policies, procedures and customer service.
The Ideal Candidate
We’re looking for a confident and target-driven Telesales or Business Engagement professional who enjoys speaking with businesses and has the resilience and motivation to succeed within a high-volume outbound sales environment. You will ideally have:
- At least one year of experience in Telesales, outbound calling, B2B sales, lead generation, business development, customer service or a similar client-facing environment.
- Experience or knowledge of Apprenticeship Sales, training provision, Employer Engagement or the wider Employability & Skills sector would be advantageous.
- A confident telephone manner with excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to engage business owners, managers and senior decision-makers.
- A proven ability to generate and qualify sales leads, identify opportunities, manage follow-up activity and work towards measurable telesales KPIs.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to maintain accurate CRM records and manage multiple leads, conversations and follow-up priorities.
- A positive, self-motivated and goal-oriented approach, with the resilience to work effectively within a high-volume outbound telesales environment.
- Level 2 English and Maths or equivalent.
- Good digital literacy and confidence using Microsoft Office, CRM systems, learner management platforms and Virtual Learning Environments.
- A commitment to continuous professional development, teamwork, safeguarding, equality, diversity and maintaining high standards of customer service.
