The Role

As an Apprenticeship Assessor: AI, Data & Software Development, you'll support apprentices throughout their learning journey, providing one-to-one coaching, assessment, and employer engagement to ensure successful achievement of apprenticeship standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering coaching across AI, Data Analysis, and Software Development apprenticeship programmes.
  • Supporting apprentices to apply coding, AI tools, automation, and data analysis within real workplace projects.
  • Conducting learner reviews, professional discussions, and formative assessments against apprenticeship standards.
  • Preparing learners for Gateway and End-Point Assessment (EPA).
  • Coaching apprentices in programming principles, Python, APIs, automation, data visualisation, and modern digital workflows.
  • Monitoring learner progress through OneFile, action planning, and milestone tracking.
  • Working collaboratively with employers to align apprenticeship projects with business objectives.
  • Supporting portfolio development and ensuring evidence meets apprenticeship and quality requirements.
  • Maintaining accurate learner records in line with funding, compliance, safeguarding, and quality standards.
  • Collaborating with curriculum teams, IQAs, and delivery colleagues while keeping up to date with emerging AI technologies and industry best practice.

The Ideal Candidate

We're looking for an experienced digital professional with a passion for apprenticeships, coaching, and developing future talent.

You’ll have:

  • Strong technical knowledge of Software Development, Data Analysis, and AI technologies.
  • Experience applying software development, automation, or data analysis within commercial environments.
  • Experience coaching, mentoring, teaching, or assessing apprentices or learners.
  • Knowledge of apprenticeship standards, quality assurance, Ofsted expectations, and apprenticeship compliance.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong organisational skills with experience managing multiple learners and employer relationships.
  • A proactive, learner-focused approach with a commitment to continuous professional development.

Essential qualifications include:

  • PGCE, CertEd, QTS, Level 4 Teaching Qualification, or Level 3 Teaching Qualification.
  • Level 3 Assessor Qualification.
  • English and Maths at Level 2 or above.
  • Degree in AI, Data, Computer Science, Digital, or a related subject, or relevant industry experience supported by appropriate technical qualifications.
  • Level 3 Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) qualification, or willingness to achieve this within the first six months.
