The Role
As an Apprenticeship Assessor – ICT / Network Engineer, you'll support apprentices throughout their programme, providing coaching, assessment, and guidance to ensure successful achievement of their apprenticeship standard.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assessing learner portfolios and workplace evidence against apprenticeship standards.
- Conducting regular learner progress reviews and development meetings.
- Supporting apprentices from enrolment through to Gateway and End-Point Assessment (EPA).
- Coaching and mentoring learners to develop their knowledge, skills, and behaviours.
- Monitoring learner progress and maintaining accurate records using digital systems.
- Working closely with employers and workplace mentors to maximise workplace learning opportunities.
- Ensuring compliance with apprenticeship and awarding body requirements.
- Delivering high-quality information, advice, and guidance (IAG) throughout the learner journey.
- Supporting learner achievement, progression, and career development.
- Keeping up to date with emerging technologies, networking trends, and industry best practice.
The Ideal Candidate
We're looking for an experienced ICT professional with a passion for developing others and supporting learner success.
You’ll have:
- Experience working within IT support, infrastructure, service desk, networking, systems administration, or wider ICT environments.
- Experience coaching, mentoring, teaching, training, or assessing learners or colleagues.
- Strong understanding of technical troubleshooting methodologies and ICT support processes.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and IT operational procedures.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience supporting learner progression and development.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills.
- The ability to motivate, challenge, and support learners to achieve their full potential.
- Experience working within apprenticeships, Further Education (FE), or workforce development programmes would be advantageous.
Essential qualifications:
- PGCE, CertEd, QTS, Level 4 Teaching Qualification, or equivalent OR Level 3 Teaching Qualification and a Level 3 Assessor Qualification.
In addition, you'll have:
- English and Maths at Level 2 or above.
- A degree-level qualification, relevant industry experience, or technical qualifications demonstrating subject expertise.
- A Level 3 Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) qualification, or willingness to achieve this within the first six months.
