About the Job
As an Apprenticeship Assessor, you will support learners undertaking apprenticeship programmes across AI, Data, and Software Development disciplines. Working closely with apprentices, employers, and mentors, you will ensure learners are progressing effectively and developing the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to achieve their qualifications.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Assessing learner portfolios and workplace evidence against apprenticeship standards
- Conducting regular progress reviews with apprentices and employers
- Supporting learners throughout their apprenticeship journey from enrolment to completion
- Providing constructive feedback and coaching to drive learner achievement
- Preparing apprentices for Gateway and End Point Assessment (EPA)
- Monitoring learner progress and maintaining accurate records using digital systems
- Working collaboratively with employers to maximise workplace learning opportunities
- Ensuring all assessment practices meet awarding body and funding requirements
- Delivering high-quality information, advice, and guidance to support learner development
- Maintaining current industry knowledge within AI, Data, and Software Development sectors
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for an experienced assessor or industry professional with strong technical knowledge and a passion for supporting learner success. You will ideally have:
- Experience supporting Software Development, Data Analysis, Digital, or AI apprenticeship programmes
- Strong understanding of software development principles, programming concepts, testing, debugging, and the software development lifecycle
- Knowledge of data analysis methodologies, visualisation tools, and business reporting
- Experience working with AI technologies, automation tools, and digital productivity platforms
- The ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience coaching, mentoring, teaching, or assessing learners in a professional environment
- Knowledge of apprenticeship standards, quality frameworks, Ofsted expectations, and End Point Assessment requirements
- Excellent stakeholder management and employer engagement skills
- Strong organisational and caseload management capabilities
Essential qualifications include:
- Teaching qualification (PGCE, CertEd, QTS, Level 4 or Level 3 Teaching Qualification)
- Level 3 Assessor Qualification
- English and Maths Level 2 or above
- Degree in AI, Data, Computer Science, Digital Technologies, or a related discipline
Alternatively, applicants with substantial industry experience and relevant technical certifications will also be considered. A Level 3 Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) qualification is desirable, or willingness to work towards this within the first six months.
