The Role
As the Regional Account Manager, you will take ownership of a regional portfolio, responsible for protecting existing revenue while developing new commercial opportunities. You will work closely with senior commercial colleagues and internal teams to develop and execute regional sales strategies, build strong customer partnerships and maximise opportunities across the organisation's portfolio.
Key responsibilities include:
- Manage and grow a portfolio of existing customers, maintaining a 95% revenue retention target.
- Develop and deliver a regional commercial strategy focused on account growth and new business.
- Generate approximately £150,000 of new business annually across the assigned region.
- Identify opportunities for upselling, cross-selling and new customer acquisition.
- Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and key decision-makers across the education and training sector.
- Develop a healthy sales pipeline and maintain accurate CRM records throughout the sales cycle.
- Conduct customer and prospect meetings, presentations and commercial discussions to convert opportunities.
- Use market intelligence and customer insight to identify emerging opportunities and develop effective sales strategies.
- Work collaboratively with Marketing, Customer Services, Product Development and Quality teams.
- Represent the organisation at customer meetings, conferences, events and relevant sector forums.
- Monitor regional sales performance and provide regular updates on pipeline, opportunities and revenue.
- Support the development of customer partnerships and identify opportunities in new sectors and markets.
- Travel extensively across the region, including occasional overnight stays, to maximise customer and prospect engagement.
The Ideal Candidate
We’re looking for a commercially minded sales and account management professional who can combine strategic thinking with a hands-on approach to winning and retaining business. You’ll ideally bring:
- Proven experience in sales, account management or business development, with demonstrable commercial results.
- Experience managing and growing a customer portfolio against revenue and retention targets.
- A strong track record of winning new business and converting commercial opportunities.
- Excellent relationship-building skills with the confidence to engage senior stakeholders.
- Experience within the education, training, qualifications or related sectors is desirable.
- Strong understanding of consultative selling, account development and pipeline management.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
- Strong organisational and project management abilities, with the capacity to manage competing priorities.
- Confidence using CRM and other ICT systems to manage customer information, sales activity and reporting.
- A positive, adaptable approach with a commitment to quality, customer service and continuous improvement.
- A full, clean driving licence and access to a vehicle, with flexibility to travel extensively across the region.
