About Job
As a Freelance Curriculum Writer, you will play a key role in designing and developing engaging learning content for programmes within the employability and skills sector. Your work will ensure that training programmes are structured, learner-focused, and aligned with industry expectations while supporting strong learner engagement and progression outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and developing curriculum content aligned with programme objectives and sector standards
- Creating schemes of work, lesson plans, and learner resources
- Ensuring learning materials align with Ofsted expectations and awarding body requirements where applicable
- Collaborating with tutors, delivery teams, and quality managers to ensure content relevance and quality
- Reviewing and updating existing curriculum materials to maintain engagement and accuracy
- Creating learner-centred content that supports employability skills and career progression
You will work closely with the wider education team to ensure the curriculum delivers a high-quality learning experience while meeting regulatory and sector standards.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in curriculum design within the education, training, or employability sector, alongside a strong understanding of effective learning delivery. You will ideally have:
- Proven experience writing curriculum or learning materials within the FE, skills, or employability sector
- Experience developing schemes of work, lesson plans, and learner resources
- Knowledge of Ofsted frameworks and quality standards within education and training
- A strong understanding of learner engagement and effective curriculum design principles
- Excellent written communication and organisational skills
- The ability to work independently while collaborating with internal teams
Experience working with training providers, FE colleges, or employability programmes would be highly beneficial. Candidates based in or able to work with organisations across the West Midlands will be particularly well suited to this opportunity.
