About the Role
As Financial Controller, you’ll report directly to the Managing Director and take responsibility for the performance and effectiveness of the finance function, with direct responsibility for the Accounts team.

A key part of the role will also be strengthening the relationship between finance and operational teams, helping the wider business better understand financial performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
You’ll be responsible for ensuring financial reporting is accurate and timely, while making management information accessible and meaningful to managers across the business.

- Leading budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, Balance Sheet and Profit and Loss management, cost accounting and variance analysis.
- Supporting the manufacturing areas of the business to improve costing and efficiencies.
- Supporting strategic financial planning, including funding, capital investment, payback calculations, acquisitions and disposals, grants and foreign exchange opportunities.
- Managing statutory accounts and reporting requirements, including VAT returns, Corporation Tax and Capital Allowances.
- Overseeing financial controls across sales ledger, purchase ledger, banking, debtors, creditors, fixed assets and other control accounts.
- Managing intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
- Maintaining the integrity of financial information across departmental systems and the accounts system.
- Ensuring Accounts department processes are documented, maintained and kept up to date within the Quality Management System.
- Identifying opportunities to improve systems, working practices, cost efficiency and the overall effectiveness of the finance function.
- Building stronger links between finance and operational teams to support and influence business improvements.
- Supporting and developing junior members of the Accounts team.
- Maintaining effective relationships with customers and suppliers while ensuring sensitive financial, customer, supplier and employee information remains secure.
About You
We’re looking for someone CIMA qualified who combines strong financial expertise with commercial awareness, and a genuine interest in how the wider business operates. You’ll be comfortable taking ownership of the finance function while working collaboratively with colleagues across different departments. You’ll have an excellent understanding of accounting in a manufacturing environment for an SME.
You’ll also bring:

- The ability to produce accurate, reliable and meaningful management information.
- Experience of budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and financial control.
- A strong understanding of statutory financial reporting and compliance requirements.

- A continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to identify opportunities to improve systems and processes.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to develop effective relationships with colleagues, customers and suppliers.
- The ability to support and develop other members of the finance team.
- A professional, organised and self-motivated approach.
Why Join Us?
