Our valued public sector client is hiring a Sr. SAP BI/BW Specialist for Data Integration on Defence Readiness Analytics Project. This resource will play a critical role in the extraction, transformation, modeling, and reporting of Defence SAP Logistics Platform data across key domains (Finance, SCM, EAM) into the SAP BI/BW platform and enable integration with the enterprise Azure data ecosystem. This role supports data readiness, enterprise analytics, and reporting initiatives critical to operations. The specialist will also enable secure and performant data availability to Power BI through the Azure PBMM platform, while supporting knowledge transfer and technical upskilling across the organization. Located in Ottawa, this contract shall be performed remotely and last until March 31st, with a very strong chance of renewal/extension.
Job Tasks:
- SAP BI/BW Data Extraction & Transformation
- Extract and structure SAP ERP data (Finance, SCM, EAM) using SAP BW/BI extractors, process chains, and queries.
- Optimize existing BI/BW solutions (multi-cubes, reports, queries) for performance and accuracy.
- Monitor and troubleshoot data flows, ensuring data integrity and system reliability.
- Document and log BI application metrics and issues; propose remediation and improvements.
- Build and manage Azure Data Factory (ADF) pipelines for SAP data ingestion.
- Design SAP BI/BW semantic models tailored to integration with Azure Synapse and Power BI.
- Standardize Master Data, Reference Data, and Enterprise Datasets to support analytics use cases.
- Support secure data movement across classification levels using compliant frameworks.
- Ensure conformance to ITSG-33 and data governance and security protocols.
- Develop and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards to support financial, operational, and readiness decision-making.
- Create training and knowledge-sharing materials on SAP BI/BW and integration best practices.
- Implement metadata and lineage tracking via Azure Purview and SAP BW tooling.
- Apply SAP Service Marketplace notes to optimize performance and resolve technical issues.
Must Haves:
- 10 years of experience in SAP BI/BW solution development and support.
- Hands-on experience integrating SAP data with Microsoft Azure services (Data Factory, Synapse, ADLS Gen2).
- Demonstrated knowledge of SAP domains such as Finance (FI), Supply Chain (SCM), and EAM.
- Secret Clearance.
