We have an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced sustainability / mechanical building services design engineer to join our award-winning practice. Why this role is different
You will play a key role in delivering net zero and decarbonisation strategies, supported by advanced modelling tools. Your expert‑level proficiency in IES VE will be central to producing detailed thermal modelling and energy analysis for complex projects. LCC (Low Carbon Consultant), LCEA (Low Carbon Energy Assessor) or NDEA are mandatory for this role. You will lead mechanical design on major projects, mentor junior engineers, and influence sustainable design outcomes.
You will
- Lead mechanical design and coordination across commercial, public sector and healthcare projects.
- Produce detailed engineering designs using IES VE, AutoCAD, and Revit, ensuring compliance with energy efficiency and low or net zero carbon requirements.
- Develop decarbonisation strategies for new and existing buildings.
- Manage client relationships and support business development.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical leadership within the team.
What We’re Looking For
- Exceptional proficiency in IES VE and demonstrable experience in thermal modelling and energy analysis.
- Strong interest and experience in decarbonisation design and low‑carbon technologies.
Essential Qualifications
- LCC (Low Carbon Consultant)
- NDEA/LCEA Level 5 (Low Carbon Energy Assessor)
- ocDEA (On Construction Domestic Energy Assessor)
- DEA (Domestic Energy Assessor)
- One Click LCA
- NABERS CP1 – Heat Networks
- Other relevant sustainability and energy assessment certifications.
- Preferably BEng or MEng degree qualified, ideally Chartered.
- Membership of MCIBSE or MIMechE (IHEEM desirable).
- Minimum 5, ideally 10 years UK-based consultancy experience.
- Healthcare sector experience (HTMs/HBNs) or transferable skills such as cleanroom/laboratory design.
- Excellent project management and commercial awareness.
