We are working on behalf of a well-established and growing civil engineering and groundworks contractor to recruit an experienced Buyer to join their team in the South Midlands.
Our client is a respected, family-run business delivering a wide range of infrastructure, earthworks, and housing development packages for leading developers and commercial clients across the UK, covering services such as roads, sewers, and groundworks.
The Role
As Buyer, you will play a key role in supporting the commercial and operational teams, ensuring the efficient procurement of materials, plant, and subcontract services across multiple projects. Key responsibilities include:
- Procuring materials, plant, and specialist subcontract packages
- Managing the procurement of aggregates and haulage services
- Negotiating with suppliers to secure best value and build long-term relationships
- Supporting site teams with timely and cost-effective supply solutions
- Monitoring market trends and identifying cost-saving opportunities
- Managing supplier performance and maintaining a robust supply chain
About You
We are looking for a commercially aware and proactive individual with a strong understanding of supply chain management within construction. You will ideally have:
- Experience as a Buyer within civils, groundworks, or construction
- Background in aggregates, haulage, or builders merchants (highly desirable)
- Strong knowledge of plant hire and/or specialist subcontract procurement
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- A hands-on, solutions-driven approach

This role is based in the South Midlands, supporting projects across the wider Midlands region.
