S Guest Consultancy Services are currently recruiting for a Trainee Quantity Surveyor on behalf of a well-established and growing Civil Engineering contractor operating across the Midlands. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career within Quantity Surveying, working alongside an experienced commercial team on a variety of residential infrastructure and groundwork projects. The Role

Working closely with Senior Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Managers, you will support the commercial delivery of residential roads, sewers and groundwork schemes across the Midlands region. This role would suit someone either early in their Quantity Surveying career or currently studying towards a construction-related qualification looking for practical, hands-on experience within a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the commercial management of groundwork and infrastructure projects
  • Support the preparation of monthly cost reporting and forecasting
  • Help manage subcontractor accounts and payment processes
  • Assist with valuations and applications for payment
  • Support the identification and agreement of variations and additional works
  • Liaise with operational and site teams regarding commercial matters
  • Assist with procurement processes and subcontractor enquiries
  • Support monthly Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs)
  • Maintain accurate project records and commercial reporting systems
  • Assist with measurement works and Bill of Quantities where required
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers and subcontractors

Requirements

  • Previous experience within a Trainee, Graduate or Assistant Quantity Surveyor role would be advantageous
  • Construction-related degree, HNC/HND or apprenticeship background preferred
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and organisational ability
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Motivated, eager to learn and career focused
  • Ability to work well within a team environment
  • Full UK Driving Licence preferred
