S Guest Consultancy Services are currently recruiting for an Estimator / Senior Estimator on behalf of a well-established and highly regarded Principal Contractor operating across the Industrial, Commercial, Education and Public Sector markets. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured and negotiated work, our client is seeking an experienced construction Estimator to join their pre-construction team and play a key role in securing projects across the Midlands and wider UK. This is an excellent opportunity to join a financially stable contractor with an outstanding reputation for delivering refurbishment, fit out, maintenance and construction projects for both public and private sector clients.
The Role
Working closely with the Commercial Director and Pre-Construction team, you will be responsible for managing tenders from initial enquiry through to submission, ensuring competitive and commercially robust bids are prepared and presented. You will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects across multiple sectors, with values ranging from smaller refurbishment schemes through to larger multi-million-pound contracts.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of detailed estimates and tender submissions
- Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation
- Producing accurate take-offs and cost plans
- Obtaining and analysing subcontractor and supplier quotations
- Identifying value engineering opportunities
- Assessing project risks and commercial opportunities
- Attending site visits, surveys and pre-tender meetings
- Preparing tender adjudication documents and supporting presentations
- Liaising with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal teams
- Supporting negotiations and post-tender discussions
- Assisting with project handovers to operational teams
Requirements
- Previous experience as an Estimator or Senior Estimator within the construction industry
- Strong refurbishment, fit out, maintenance or general construction experience
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and estimating software packages
- Ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously and work to deadlines
- Construction-related qualification desirable but not essential
