We are currently recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established and highly respected main contractor delivering a range of regional build projects across the East Midlands. This is an excellent opportunity to take full commercial ownership of schemes typically ranging from £3m to £15m, working within a business known for quality delivery, repeat clients, and a strong pipeline of secured work.
The Role
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the end-to-end commercial management of construction projects, ensuring financial performance is maximised while maintaining strong relationships with clients and supply chain partners. You will play a key role within the commercial team, working closely with operational staff to drive project success from pre-construction through to final account.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full commercial responsibility for multiple construction projects
- Manage project costs from tender stage through to completion
- Prepare and oversee valuations, forecasts, and cost reporting
- Procure and manage subcontractor packages
- Negotiate contracts, variations, and final accounts
- Identify and mitigate commercial risks and maximise opportunities
- Work closely with site and project teams to ensure cost control
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors
- Contribute to commercial strategy and business performance
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor environment
- Background working on general construction / build projects
- Experience managing projects in the £3m – £15m range
- Ideally experience within a Tier 1 or well-structured contractor environment
- Strong commercial acumen and contract knowledge
- Confident negotiator with excellent communication skills
- Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction (HNC/HND/Degree preferred)
