We are recruiting an experienced Site Manager to join an established specialist contractor delivering retail and commercial interior fit-out projects nationwide. This role would particularly suit someone who has come through a joinery, shopfitting or interiors background and understands the pace, pressure and attention to detail required to successfully deliver fast-track fit-out projects. These aren’t long-duration construction projects. Typical programmes are around 8–12 weeks, with some significantly quicker turnaround projects, so we’re looking for somebody who can take control of a site, manage multiple trades, drive the programme and get projects over the line.
As Site Manager, you will take day-to-day responsibility for the successful delivery of interior fit-out projects across the UK. You’ll be responsible for:
- Managing projects on site from commencement through to handover
- Coordinating subcontractors, trades and suppliers
- Driving demanding fast-track programmes
- Managing site logistics and sequencing of works
- Maintaining excellent standards of workmanship and finish
- Managing health & safety and site compliance
- Holding site meetings and communicating progress
- Liaising with Project Managers, Contracts Managers, clients and the commercial team
- Monitoring programme, quality and productivity
- Managing snagging and ensuring successful project handover
- Identifying potential problems early and finding practical solutions
- Maintaining accurate site records and reporting
- Representing the business professionally in front of clients
Projects will predominantly involve retail and commercial fit-out, with packages potentially incorporating bespoke joinery, partitions, ceilings, flooring, decoration, M&E and associated finishing trades.
We’re particularly interested in Site Managers who understand fit-out rather than traditional new-build construction. Ideally you’ll have:
- Previous Site Management experience within interior fit-out or shopfitting
- A background in joinery, carpentry or shopfitting would be a distinct advantage
- Experience delivering retail and/or commercial interiors
- A strong understanding of fast-track programmes
- The ability to coordinate multiple subcontract trades
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- A strong eye for quality and finishing
- The confidence to deal directly with clients and professional teams
- Appropriate Site Management / Health & Safety qualifications
- A full clean UK driving licence
Most importantly, you must be comfortable with the nature of nationwide fit-out. Projects are located throughout the UK, and the successful Site Manager must therefore be prepared to travel and stay away from home when projects require it.
This is a great opportunity to join a specialist contractor with an established pipeline of interior projects and a reputation for delivering high-quality work in demanding environments. If you enjoy the pace of fit-out, like taking ownership of your projects and get satisfaction from turning an empty shell into a completed retail or commercial environment in a matter of weeks, this could be an excellent move. Nationwide travel and staying away will form part of the role.
