We’re working with a growing construction contractor who is looking to appoint an experienced Estimator / Quantity Surveyor to strengthen their commercial team. This is a varied role offering involvement across both tendering and live project delivery.
About the Role
You’ll work closely with the commercial leadership team, taking ownership of cost planning, tender submissions, and financial management of projects. The role will suit someone who enjoys a mix of office-based estimating and hands-on project commercial involvement.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Reviewing incoming tender opportunities and assessing project requirements
- Supporting the preparation and submission of competitive tenders
- Identifying risks, opportunities, and key commercial considerations at bid stage
- Liaising with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain and evaluate pricing
- Building accurate cost plans and submitting tenders within required deadlines
- Attending internal and external meetings to support bid and project decisions
- Managing project costs, valuations, and financial reporting throughout delivery
- Preparing cash flow projections and tracking project performance
- Overseeing subcontractor accounts, including payments and variations
- Carrying out site visits and working closely with operational teams
- Monitoring changes to scope and ensuring variations are captured and valued
- Supporting final account negotiations and project close-out
- Contributing to regular commercial reviews and procurement discussions
What We’re Looking For
- Around 5+ years’ experience in a similar Estimator or Quantity Surveyor role
- Background within construction (main contractor experience desirable)
- Relevant qualifications (HNC/HND, Degree, or equivalent in Construction or QS)
- Strong numerical and commercial skills
- Confident communicator with the ability to liaise across teams and stakeholders
- Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel as required
