We are recruiting on behalf of a forward-thinking specialist sub-contractor delivering high-quality infrastructure, groundworks and building services projects across the Midlands, with values ranging up to £50m. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to begin their commercial career as a Trainee Quantity Surveyor working alongside experienced commercial and site teams.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting monthly forecasting and commercial performance reporting
- Building strong working relationships with internal teams and external clients
- Preparing timely valuations for works completed and ensuring applications for payment
- Identifying, valuing and agreeing variations and incidental works
- Assisting with procurement and establishing key handover dates
- Processing subcontractor payments and managing accounts
- Assisting with Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs) and profit & loss reporting
- Supporting estimating activities including measurement/Bill of Quantities
- Liaising proactively with site teams to resolve commercial issues
Who We’re Looking For
- You’ll be an ambitious early-career commercial professional who has:
- A relevant degree, apprenticeship or educational background in quantity surveying / commercial management
- Experience in a graduate, trainee or junior commercial role (or equivalent internships/work placements)
- Strong numerical ability (minimum GCSE Maths grade 6 or equivalent)
- Excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills
- A willingness to learn, take responsibility and develop your commercial skillset
