We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established and highly regarded residential developer for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor / Quantity Surveyor to join their growing East Midlands team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a business delivering high-quality residential developments across the region. The successful candidate will be given ownership of a live housing scheme and will be expected to manage the commercial function with a high degree of autonomy.

The Role

Reporting into the Commercial Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day commercial management of a residential development from inception through to final account.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full commercial management of a live housing development
  • Procurement and management of subcontractor packages
  • Preparation and agreement of subcontractor payments
  • Cost reporting, forecasting and budget control
  • Valuations, variations and final accounts
  • Identifying commercial risks and opportunities
  • Liaising closely with site management, technical and operational teams
  • Managing cash flow and ensuring projects remain financially on target
  • Supporting the delivery of schemes safely, profitably and efficiently

Requirements

  • Previous experience within a Quantity Surveyor or Assistant Quantity Surveyor role
  • Housebuilding or residential development experience is essential
  • Ability to manage a site with minimal supervision
  • Strong commercial awareness and cost management skills
  • Experience procuring and managing subcontract packages
  • Good communication and relationship-building skills
