Mechanical Estimator Required Local to Leeds! Our client carries out large, complex MEP engineering project works across the UK and Ireland, delivering leading-edge construction solutions across a range of key sectors including Commercial, Education, Healthcare, Heritage, Hospitality & Leisure, Life Sciences & Residential through their Major Projects, Facilities Management & Specialist Projects divisions.

The role: Our client is looking to take on an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join their Commercial department. The Ideal Candidate will be a motivated and reliable individual who brings enthusiasm and positivity to the team and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. This role is primarily working from home, however there may be the occasional requirement to head to site. This role is suitable for someone local to either Leeds or Manchester, with our client looking to increase their presence in the North of England.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Responsible for detailed mechanical take offs for a variety of projects from high level cost plans / budgets, design & build & fully designed.
  • Taking tenders through from arrival in the company to the effective handover to our contracts team when the project is secured.
  • Liaise and communicate with Sub-Contractors, Vendors and Suppliers to prepare tenders in a timely manner.
  • Understand and analyse mechanical drawings and schematics to establish the right price.
  • Take an active role in preparing commercial quantified schedules of rates / tender summary information.
  • Identify valued engineering options and any risks during the tender bid period.
  • Build relationships with customers to promote repeat business.
  • Excellent attention to detail & communication skills.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Time served plumber (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) or proven industry experience.
  • Be able to demonstrate a comprehensive mechanical technical knowledge.
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, with a ‘can-do’ approach to work and willingness to learn and assist.
  • Organised and disciplined in your planning and approach to work.
  • Work well and confidently as part of a team in a busy environment.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficient in Trimble (Amtech) Estimating Software or similar.
