We are looking for an Internal Sales Engineer for our client, a well-established UK manufacturer based in Bolton, part of a global group of companies. The business designs and produces high-quality products for a variety of industrial sectors and has a strong reputation for technical expertise and customer service. This Internal Sales Engineer role is a fully office-based position where you will support internal sales activities, prepare technical quotations, manage customer enquiries, and maintain existing accounts. You will work closely with internal teams to provide technical and commercial support, contribute to account retention, and identify opportunities for growth. There are no customer site visits required.
Salary: £36,000 – £42,000 per annum.
Hours: Full Time, Permanent (38 hours per week).
Working Pattern: Monday to Thursday 07:30–16:00, Friday 07:30–12:50.
As an Internal Sales Engineer, you will:
- Manage internal sales performance across multiple product ranges.
- Build and maintain strong technical and commercial customer relationships.
- Identify opportunities for growth within existing accounts.
- Provide technical input throughout the sales cycle, including quotations, proposals, and specifications.
- Participate in remote customer meetings and technical discussions from the office.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Operations teams to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Monitor market trends and competitor activity to support internal sales strategy.
- Assist with tender submissions, pricing coordination, and technical clarifications.
- Prepare accurate quotations and maintain CRM records.
- Resolve customer queries, complaints, and product-related issues.
- Support customer retention and long-term account growth.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in the sales function.
- Apply analytical and numerical skills to manage pricing, reporting, and sales data.
Internal Sales Engineer Requirements:
- HNC, Degree, or equivalent in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related technical field.
- Experience in internal sales or customer-focused technical support roles.
- Mechanical or Electrical engineering knowledge is beneficial.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 or other quality standards.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, CRM systems, and data reporting tools. SolidWorks experience is advantageous.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with customers and colleagues.
- Comfortable interpreting technical specifications, preparing quotations, and producing reports.
- Commercially aware with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Experience in Project Management is an advantage.
