S&D Trade Recruitment is working alongside a leading manufacturing company, part of an international group, to recruit a Tendering Engineer. Based in Bredbury, this well-established organisation delivers high-quality engineered solutions to clients across a variety of industrial sectors.

As a Tendering Engineer, you’ll be responsible for preparing competitive and technically robust proposals for heat tracing projects, ensuring alignment with client requirements and company capabilities. You will work closely with internal teams and clients to gather technical information, perform design calculations, and deliver comprehensive bids. Working hours: Monday to Thursday: 07:30 to 16:00, Friday: 07:30 to 12:50 (38 hours per week). Salary: £30,000 to £32,000 per annum, dependent on experience.

Tendering Engineer Responsibilities:
  • Assess and interpret RFQs, ITTs, and tender documents related to heat tracing systems.
  • Develop detailed technical and commercial proposals, including system design, material choice, pricing, and delivery schedules.
  • Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and project management teams to collate essential inputs for tender submissions.
  • Carry out heat loss calculations and select appropriate heating cables, control units, and accessories.
  • Ensure all proposals comply with industry standards such as IEC, IEEE, and ATEX, as well as client requirements.
  • Engage with clients for technical clarifications, discussions, and bid negotiations.
  • Support the sales team by providing pre-sales technical assistance and presentations when necessary.
Tendering Engineer Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Instrumentation Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in tendering or proposal preparation.
  • Good knowledge of heat tracing system design principles, materials, and control systems is advantageous.
  • Understanding of hazardous area classifications and temperature control requirements is beneficial; however, full training will be provided.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and experience of working on CRMs; in-house training will be given.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage deadlines effectively.
  • Experience working with EPC contractors and international tenders is desirable.
