The role involves supporting the HSE Manager in delivering the HSE Policy requirements, goals and objectives. Key responsibilities include:
- Developing, implementing, maintaining and communicating all HSE documentation requirements, ensuring conformance to ISO45001 & ISO14001.
- Leading and facilitating the risk assessment program, ensuring improvement actions are logged on the improvement database.
- Monitoring activities intended to reduce the potential for injury or ill health.
- Liaising with department managers to ensure effective hazard identification and risk assessment processes.
- Assisting the HSE Manager in ensuring compliance with stakeholder requirements and obligations.
- Creating and delivering HSE awareness training and induction programs.
- Assisting with the drugs and alcohol testing process.
- Supporting the HSE Manager in executing arrangements for operational control of PTW, LOTO, control of contractors, CDM projects, COSHH, HAVs, etc.
- Supporting the incident investigation program to ensure proper investigation of occupational accidents.
- Developing and maintaining records and document control processes in conformance with ISO45001 & ISO14001.
- Completing statutory notifications, e.g. RIDDOR.
- Ensuring provision of welfare arrangements and equipment.
- Arranging specific external HSE related training.
- Creating and delivering safety communications.
- Assisting with preparation for and execution of HSE certification audits.
- Practicing good housekeeping and safety procedures.
- Participating in team working, information sharing, 5S and Continuous Improvement Programmes.
- Acting as H&S lead on cross departmental projects/forums.
- Ensuring compliance with all Company policies and systems.
- Other duties as assigned.
Essential Criteria:
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.
- More than 1 year previous experience as a HSE Officer.
- Confidentiality and discretion.
- IT literate, proficient in MS Office.
- Analytical, problem solving and reporting skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
- Planning, organising and time management abilities.
- Determined, results focused, with ability to work on own initiative.
Desirable Criteria:
- NEBOSH General Certificate, 3rd level safety qualification or working towards NEBOSH Diploma or a degree.
- Recognised environmental qualification.
- 3 years experience as HSE Officer.
- Experience in designing and delivering HSE training programs.
- Previous experience of incident investigation and risk assessment processes.
- Knowledge of ISO45011 and/or ISO 14001 management systems.
