The Role: Support the department expense budget in line with the company business plan. Request quotations, raise requisitions + track spends for department Plan individual work schedule based on tasks and responsibilities allocated on the department resource plan Create and maintain 2D drawings and 3D models for product design Create and maintain 2D drawings and 3D models for die tooling design Create feasibility and technical reviews to support new business RFQ activities Complete design for manufacture reviews with internal departments, customers, and suppliers to support NPI activities Support department goals and actions activities in line with the company 3-year goals Create Design Change Requests (DCRs) for internal and customer engineering changes Create and maintain engineering specifications for the Design Department Create and issue Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) for new or replacement die tooling Support Design Department compliance with industry and customer audit (e.g., IATF) requirements. Including department work instructions and procedures Support Manufacturing and QA departments with engineering advice on customer or production concerns Document and Evaluate feasibility of internal engineering change requests via the Design Suggestion Sheet (DSS) process Investigate, develop, and propose cost down opportunities for product, tooling and process improvements Support the projects department in the specification and procurement of new equipment to allow parts to be produced to customer specification Support improvement activities within the design department - Assess and propose self-training needs - Practice good housekeeping and safety procedures Participate with team working, information sharing, 5S and Continuous Improvement Programmes Ensure compliance with all Company policies and systems, including the quality, health, safety and environmental policies and management systems Other duties as assigned Essential Criteria: Third level qualification in an engineering discipline (degree, HND, HNC or equivalent) Previous design experience within a manufacturing engineering environment - Well developed 2D and 3D CAD skills (preferably Siemens NX, Catia or other 3D system) - IT literate, proficient in MS Office Good analytical and problem solving skills - Good communication skills, both oral and written - Good project management skills - Ability to work effectively on own initiative and effectively contribute within a team environment - Customer focus and teamwork skills Desirable Criteria: Knowledge of manufacturing and experience in the die casting industry - Knowledge of continuous improvement tools/techniques A knowledge of or interest in the automotive industry Company Benefits: Competitive salary Competitive shift premium for all shift roles Generous employer pension contributions, starting at 7% Employer and rising to 14% Employer A health cash plan Discount scheme Life assurance Service-related holidays & Holiday Purchase Scheme Employee assistance programme Free car parking Learning and Development opportunities and support Ride to work scheme Service awards TPBN1_NI
