An Opportunity to Help Build and Run a New Business

We are looking for an ambitious, reliable and highly motivated person to take a key role in the launch and day-to-day running of a new house clearance business based in Norton Canes.

This is not just another job.

The business is being launched by an experienced entrepreneur who owns and operates several long-established businesses. We are looking for the right person to learn the business from the ground up, take responsibility for its day-to-day operations and, as the company grows, develop into a management role with significant responsibility.

For someone with the right attitude, work ethic and ambition, this is an opportunity to help build a business and create a long-term career for themselves.

The Role

The company will primarily specialise in house clearances, although we may also undertake house removals and other related work when required.

You will initially be involved in all areas of the operation and will learn how the business works from start to finish.

An important part of the role will also involve visiting potential customers, assessing clearance or removal jobs and providing quotations. You therefore need to be confident speaking with customers, understanding their requirements and professionally representing the business.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Organising and carrying out house clearance jobs
  • Occasionally carrying out house removals when required
  • Visiting customers' properties to assess potential jobs
  • Providing quotations for house clearances, removals and related work
  • Driving Luton vans to and from jobs
  • Communicating professionally with customers
  • Planning daily workloads and ensuring jobs run efficiently
  • Taking responsibility for the smooth day-to-day operation of the business
  • Ensuring jobs are completed professionally and on time
  • Managing waste, reusable items and disposal requirements appropriately
  • Keeping vehicles, equipment and working areas organised
  • Potentially recruiting, supervising and managing additional staff as the business grows
  • Helping develop systems and processes to improve efficiency and profitability
  • Taking increasing responsibility for the overall performance of the operation

We Are Looking for Someone Who Is:

  • Accountable – You take ownership of your responsibilities and find solutions to problems rather than waiting for somebody else to deal with them.
  • Reliable – Customers, colleagues and the business need to be able to depend on you.
  • A strong communicator – You will be dealing directly with customers, providing quotations and potentially managing staff.
  • Confident with customers – You should be comfortable visiting people's homes, discussing their requirements and helping convert enquiries into booked jobs.
  • Organised – You can plan jobs, manage your workload and keep things running efficiently.
  • Practical and hands‑on – This is an operational role and will involve physical house clearance and removal work, particularly while the business is being established.
  • Commercially minded – You understand that winning work, providing excellent service, operating efficiently and controlling costs all contribute towards building a profitable business.
  • Ambitious – We want somebody who sees the opportunity to grow with the company rather than simply looking for another hourly‑paid job.
  • Flexible – Normal working hours will generally be Monday to Friday, 9:00am–4:30pm. However, house clearances and removals cannot always be completed within fixed hours, so overtime and flexibility will sometimes be required to ensure jobs are completed properly.

Pay & Performance Bonuses

The starting rate is £13.00 per hour.

In addition to your hourly wage, the role will include a performance-related commission/bonus structure linked to the profitability and success of the business.

The objective is simple: as you help us build a more successful and profitable business, you should have the opportunity to earn more.

We want the successful person to think of the operation as something they are responsible for helping to grow, rather than simply turning up for a shift.

This role has genuine potential to develop into a senior operational/management position.

As the business grows, the successful candidate could take responsibility for:

  • Managing clearance and removal teams
  • Organising vehicles and daily schedules
  • Visiting and quoting potential jobs
  • Recruiting and training staff
  • Monitoring costs and profitability
  • Improving operational systems
  • Helping expand the business into new areas
  • Taking overall responsibility for the day-to-day running of the operation

For the right person, this could become a long-term career with increasing responsibility and earning potential as the business grows.

Requirements

  • Have excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Be reliable, trustworthy and accountable
  • Be physically capable of carrying out house clearance and removal work
  • Hold a full UK driving licence
  • Be confident visiting customers and providing quotations
  • Be able to work independently and make sensible decisions
  • Be comfortable taking responsibility for an operation
  • Be willing to work overtime when required to complete jobs
  • Have the flexibility to work around customer requirements when necessary
  • Be interested in progressing into a management position
  • Previous experience in house clearance, removals, waste management, logistics, property services, sales, quoting or team management would be useful but is not essential.
  • Attitude, reliability, accountability and ambition are more important.
