Westbury – at least 4 days in office. Competitive, DOE. Monday – Friday, 9 am – 5.30 pm.

Your Role’s Purpose

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to play a key role within our Management Accounts function, supporting the production of high‑quality internal and external management information and helping to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the department. Reporting to the Head of Finance and Business Transformation, the Financial Controller will be responsible for maintaining robust financial control and driving commercial performance across the business. As a senior leader, the role will provide strategic insight, financial oversight and commercial intelligence, working in close partnership with stakeholders to support delivery of the Group’s objectives. The position is a key member of the company’s senior leadership team and will play an important role in shaping the future direction of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be the ‘number two’ to the Head of Finance, to support them to ensure that the goals and responsibilities are delivered, and that key stakeholder relationships are maintained within the department and across the Group.
  • Guiding and mentoring the other finance team members to ensure timely completion of the month end results.
  • Compliance with all external audit, internal audit, HMRC and corporate governance requirements.
  • Ensuring/Applying Financial Controls and working with the Head of Finance to ensure compliance with Group policies.
  • Driving high levels of performance through effective business partnering and working with the procurement and project managers to understand the pipeline of projects, the likely impact on monthly results and subsequent cash collection requirement.
  • Take a proactive role on streamlining processes to improve efficiency and accuracy across the finance function.
  • Act as the primary point of contact within the Finance Team and for escalation, ensuring succinct communication, unified efforts, and clarity around objectives to the Head of Finance.
  • Lead, Develop and Motivate the Management Accounts team.
  • Production and review of monthly internal Management Accounts, various financial reports and reports for external stakeholders.
  • Oversight of the various company balance sheets and monthly reconciliation.
  • Oversite of the business cashflow, supporting the maintenance and inputs to the forecast/cashflow model.
  • Providing insightful analysis to help the Board understand performance drivers and financial matters.
  • Managing all financial controls, quality standards and communication to stakeholders.
  • Working closely with the head of purchasing to maintain cost control.
  • Leading and coordinating with management of the year end audit.
  • Maintaining accurate accounting data, with a focus on continuous system & process improvement.
  • Oversee all activities relating to the delivery of Finance projects, including development of controls and reporting relating to the existing and newly implemented ERP.
  • Create various financial models to help evaluate elements of the existing business or potential growth areas or acquisitions.
  • Support the Head of Finance in group structure rationalisation, Tax and technical accounting matters.
  • Support the Head of Finance on multiple projects as the business continues its considerate and significant growth.

Skills and Experience Required

  • CA/ ACA / ACCA Qualified.
  • Excellent analytical and numerical abilities.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Process oriented, with a focus on process improvement.
  • Time management and ability to work to deadlines.
  • Kerridge/Keyloop usage experience desirable, but not essential.
  • IT skills.
  • Ability to adapt and work in high pressured situations.
