We are looking for an Assistant Management Accountant to support the day‑to‑day operations of our finance function in a fast‑growing fintech scale‑up. This is a full‑time hybrid role based in Manchester. Working closely with the Management Accountant and wider leadership team, you will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month‑end reporting and helping to develop and improve finance processes as the business continues to scale. This role would suit someone with experience across both transactional finance and month‑end processes, including journals, accruals, prepayments and management accounts support. We're looking for someone who can work closely with the Management Accountant from day one and contribute immediately to the month‑end reporting cycle, while continuing to grow with the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transactional Finance
    • Maintain accurate purchase and sales ledgers, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and on time
    • Resolve invoice queries and discrepancies with internal and external stakeholders
    • Perform cash allocation and bank reconciliations
    • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
    • Assist with payment runs and cash management activities
  • Month‑End & Management Accounts
    • Support the month‑end close process and ensure deadlines are met
    • Prepare journals, accruals and prepayments
    • Complete balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules
    • Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts
    • Investigate variances and support financial analysis
    • Support budgeting and forecasting activities where required
    • Contribute to continuous improvement of finance processes and controls
  • Reporting & Analysis
    • Assist with ad‑hoc reporting and analysis for internal stakeholders
    • Support the preparation of information required for audits and regulatory reporting

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Hands‑on experience supporting month‑end processes and management accounts preparation
  • Good understanding of journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations
  • Strong Excel skills, including working with large datasets and financial reporting
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Proactive approach and willingness to take ownership of tasks
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, growing business environment
  • Studying towards, or interested in pursuing ACA, ACCA, CIMA
