We now have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Multi‑Skilled Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join our South East–based NHS building maintenance and repair team. This team delivers planned, preventative and responsive building maintenance and repairs. Rydon Maintenance is an expanding division of the Rydon Group, providing hard FM services across England for a growing number of NHS Trusts. We look after more than 250 buildings on behalf of 20 NHS Trusts on a planned, responsive repairs and small works projects basis, serving hospitals, ambulance trusts, primary care trusts and mental health trusts. Using the latest technology we ensure properties are well maintained, efficient and fit for purpose.
As part of this electrical maintenance engineer role, you will provide repairs to ambulance stations, make‑ready centres and emergency response outposts across Kent and Surrey. The work involves commercial electrical repairs and maintenance, including circuit breakers, controls, fuses, lights, motors and more. You will also complete planned preventative maintenance (PPMs) such as emergency lighting testing. In addition to core electrical tasks, you may be asked to undertake a variety of general building maintenance tasks – basic plumbing, carpentry and ironmongery such as changing locks, door furniture and fitting new hinges – where your qualifications allow.
Responsibilities include:
- Plan and carry out electrical maintenance and repair work across the trust’s sites.
- Perform PPMs and testing for emergency lighting and other electrical systems.
- Provide on‑call support through a rota system, covering urgent repairs.
- Work collaboratively with other maintenance trades to support overall building functionality.
Qualifications and experience:
- Strong commercial electrical experience, ideally gained in an FM company.
- NVQ or City & Guilds qualification Level 3 for electrical installations and 18th edition.
- Experience in an NHS or healthcare environment is a plus, but other commercial environments are acceptable.
- Good people skills and a passion for delivering high‑quality preventative and responsive maintenance.
Benefits:
- A competitive starting salary.
- Company van and fuel card.
- 25 days holiday entitlement per annum, with a holiday purchase scheme (up to 5 additional days).
- 4% contributory pension scheme.
- On‑call allowance and overtime rates paid per call‑out.
- Health Cash Plan to spread the cost of essential healthcare.
- 24/7 EAP service for free advice, counselling and support for you and your family.
- Wellbeing and mental health champions available at work.
- Employee discount scheme covering a range of special offers and discounts.
- Flexible benefits options, including Critical Illness, DenPlan and Cycle‑to‑work schemes.
- Employee Referral Scheme: recommend a personal connection and claim a cash reward for a successful hire.
- Free flu vaccinations and eye‑care vouchers.
- Career progression opportunities across the business.
