Overview

We are seeking an experienced Lead Maintenance Engineer / Supervisor at Newton Abbot Community Hospital. The role is based on a single site and aims to deliver a quality maintenance service to our client. The hospital comprises 60 beds, a rehabilitation unit, a minor injury centre, a small maternity unit and a range of outpatient facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Hands-on site maintenance duties as part of the responsive repairs and planned & preventative maintenance (PPM) programme. Duties may involve electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, ironmongery and related trades depending on your background and experience.
  • Act as focal point for external contractors, organising and coordinating planned maintenance visits where necessary.
  • Manage site files to ensure statutory and technical compliance, along with health and safety procedures on site.
  • Support the maintenance strategy to deliver reliable, safe, compliant facilities for users.
  • Participate in an on-call rota system (which offers opportunities to increase earnings and respond to urgent repairs).

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Technical knowledge of M&E building services maintenance and health & safety procedures in daily site operation.
  • Electrical and/or mechanical qualifications are advantageous.
  • Experience as a Maintenance Engineer/Operative, with prior site supervisor experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting NHS clients is desirable, but candidates with strong commercial experience (e.g., hotels, schools, supermarkets) that can be translated to the NHS will be considered.
