Job Overview
As a Maintenance Operative, you will maintain a number of hospital and healthcare sites between Swindon and Salisbury, working as part of a skilled maintenance team.
Responsibilities
- Perform reactive works and planned preventive maintenance (PPM) on NHS sites.
- Repair doors and frames, replace taps, washers and other plumbing components.
- Service or replace tube and motorised ventilation (TMV) units.
- Install and repair cabinets and wall‑based units.
- Replace pipework, skirting, boxing and carry out sentinel checks.
- Replace lamps, conduct fire door inspections and test fire alarms.
- Replace locks and carry out other fabric repairs to buildings.
- Participate in planned upgrade and refurbishment work to ensure a safe environment for service users.
- Work a standard schedule of 8am–5pm Monday to Friday and, if selected, join an on‑call rota to handle urgent repairs and increase earnings.
Qualifications
- Previous relevant experience maintaining buildings, ideally within the NHS or a maintenance contractor supplying NHS sites.
- Experience in commercial settings such as offices, supermarkets, hotels and other facilities is also considered.
