European Risk & Compliance Lawyer
London | Hybrid | Full-time
A leading international law firm is seeking an experienced Risk & Compliance Lawyer to join its European Risk team. Reporting to the European Head of Risk, this role supports risk and compliance activity across UK and European offices, advising on regulatory obligations, professional conduct, commercial risk, data protection and firmwide compliance processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Compliance advisory - Provide clear, practical guidance to fee earners and business teams on risk, compliance and professional conduct queries.
- SRA & regulatory compliance - Advise on the interpretation and application of the SRA Code of Conduct and Standards & Regulations.
- Contract & terms review - Review and advise on engagement letters, client terms, NDAs, supplier contracts and outside counsel guidelines.
- Client audits & RFPs - Support responses to client audits, questionnaires and pitch documentation.
- Policy development - Assist with drafting and updating global and Europe‑specific risk policies and procedures.
- Process improvement - Recommend enhancements to systems, processes and guidance materials.
- Training - Support the development and delivery of risk and compliance training.
- Risk assessments - Assist with internal audits, investigations and risk assessments.
- Data protection - Advise on UK GDPR matters, data incidents, breach notifications and DSAR responses.
- Regulatory monitoring - Track UK and European regulatory developments and advise on their impact.
Experience & Requirements
- Qualified lawyer with 1-3 years' PQE.
- Experience within an international commercial law firm.
- Familiarity with SRA Standards & Regulations.
- Understanding of UK GDPR and data protection principles.
- Exposure to contract review and commercial risk considerations.
