The Payroll Specialist is responsible for assisting the Payroll Manager as needed in all areas of payroll processing. Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:
- Research of payroll tax questions from employees and agencies
- Review of quarterly tax information
- Preparation of international payroll worksheets
- Review of employee work flow information in the HRMS system to ensure proper tax jurisdiction set up
- Review of periodic tax reports and files
- Assistance to the Payroll Manager with the review of the annual tax reconciliation
The Senior Payroll Specialist works closely at a peer level with Accounting, Human Resources, and Service Delivery personnel.
Duties and responsibilities, as they align with Ryan Key Results:
- People: Create a positive team member experience.
- Client: Routine interaction with employees and managers.
- Values: Reviews and balances payroll batch information which includes time clock entries, bonus entries, and other compensation entries.
- Reviews employee master file information to ensure applicable work state taxes are calculating and appropriate resident state information is calculating.
- Reviews work flows for employee changes in direct deposit and withholding.
- Reviews basic calculations for each payroll.
- Assists in balancing the payroll and reviewing exception reports.
- Creates payroll worksheets for established international countries.
- Reviews the quarterly payroll reports from the tax vendor.
- Creates compensation ad-hoc reports as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience: Five years related payroll experience in a multi-jurisdictional environment. The preferred candidate would have or be working toward CIPP qualification.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have intermediate skills in Workday or similar payroll software, and intermediate skills in Microsoft® Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and Internet navigation/research.
