Position Summary
The Legal Counsel is responsible for providing legal advice and guidance to the organization. They handle legal matters, contracts, and compliance issues. The Legal Counsel ensures that the company operates within the boundaries of the law and mitigates legal risks.
What will your job entail?
- Draft and review contracts, agreements, and legal documents, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Provide legal advice to internal teams, including HR, finance, and operations, on various legal matters.
- Represent the organization in legal proceedings, including negotiations, settlements, and litigation.
- Conduct legal research to stay updated on changes in laws and regulations that may impact the company.
- Collaborate with external legal counsel, government agencies, and other stakeholders as needed.
- Develop and implement company policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance.
- Advise on intellectual property matters, including trademarks, copyrights, and patents.
- Assist in managing legal risks related to business operations and strategic initiatives.
Work Experience and Education:
- Law degree with 5 years of related experience; or a Master’s degree with 3 years of experience; or a PhD without work experience; or equivalent work experience.
- License to practice law in at least one state.
Licenses & Certifications:
- Certified Legal Professional (CLP) or Continuing Legal Education (CLE) is preferred.
