The Director role within the Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Tax team is a pivotal leadership position in a team at the early stages of its growth trajectory. The Director will play a critical role in delivering exceptional client service, leading complex transactions, and shaping a differentiated service offering. This role combines technical excellence, strategic delivery, and team leadership, with a strong focus on building client relationships and driving business growth.
Duties and responsibilities, as they align to Ryan's Key Results- People: Coach and develop team members, fostering a culture of learning, collaboration, and high performance. Lead training initiatives and support the professional development of staff. Collaborate with peers and contribute to building a strong, scalable team.
- Client: Act as a key point of contact for clients, legal advisers, and internal teams to ensure effective delivery. Lead complex transactions in collaboration with Principals, providing strategic and technical guidance. Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring consistent, high-quality service. Support business development efforts, including proposal preparation and participation in pitches.
- Value: Prepare and oversee detailed technical advice across UK and international tax issues. Perform and review in-depth analysis of tax-related documents and data, articulating commercial impacts. Collaborate with UK and overseas tax specialists, critically evaluating and integrating their input. Demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of UK and OECD tax developments. Review and prepare detailed funds flows and assess financial models from a tax perspective. Oversee implementation of client 100-day plans and other pre- and post-deal tax deliverables. Manage engagement economics including fees, WIP, billing, and collections.
- Qualified CTA, ACA, CA or equivalent.
- Extensive experience in UK corporate tax and transaction tax.
- Proven track record of delivering complex tax advice and supporting clients through transactions.
- Experience building and leading high-performing teams.
- Strong commercial acumen and practical approach to tax advisory.
