About the Role
The Director, Customs and Foreign Trade Tax (“Director”) leads a team of consultants to identify tax savings opportunities and undertake compliance consultancy for clients. The Director also maintains existing client relationships and focuses on customs and foreign trade tax recovery, which includes researching tax issues, reconciling databases, and completing detailed calculations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop client workplans and schedules associated project deliverables.
- Travel to client locations to gather and copy tax returns, invoices, purchase orders, and other documentation for the audit refund process.
- Review and reconcile client data downloads and identify tax issues to research.
- Assist with client billing and financial forecasting.
- Respond to client inquiries and requests from state agencies.
- Prepare and conduct client presentations.
- Manage complex customs and foreign trade tax projects, including audit defense, managed audits, managed compliance, reverse audits, and tax recovery.
- Negotiate tax resolutions with state agencies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree or equivalent in Accounting and/or Finance.
- Six to eight years audit or tax‑related experience.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervise employees in the Customs and Foreign Trade Tax practice and carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the firm’s policies and applicable laws.
