Job Summary
Reporting to VP, Creative, the Resident Creative is responsible for supporting the creation and installation for RWS experiences. These will include full scale production shows, immersive activations, scare mazes, escape rooms, kids character IPs, light entertainment gameshows and family activities. The Resident Creative is responsible for upholding RWS brand standards and ensuring the creative vision is executed to client specifications.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Active creative development and/or creative direction for experiences in the leisure and attractions space.
- This role emphasizes concept ideation, writing, directing, immersive experiences, world-building, and spatial narrative thinking.
- Establish a creative vision and manage its implementation, including direction & choreography, scenic design, costume design, media design, lighting design and music production.
- Boldly ideate and write original concepts and/or shows across multiple genres.
- Effectively collaborate with all creatives and departments to manage the project within creative and budgetary means.
- Support concept development and creative development processes for experiences, including character development, scripting, initial creative and storyboards.
- Develop experiences incorporating food, beverage and merchandise when applicable.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the production & operations, talent, and extended creative teams.
- Source and vet creative contractors as needed to deliver our experiences.
- Build strong partnerships across the company to work as a cohesive team and identify new growth opportunities.
- Stay abreast of market developments, new products and technologies as well as emerging avenues in the industry.
- Support development of ideas and/or entertainment programs that can become scalable executions (and future revenue streams).
- Seek out new vendor partners to build relationships to keep the company’s offerings relevant.
- Budget oversight on a per-project basis.
- Coordinate and manage scheduling with on-site management.
- Provide administrative support for the directors and other production personnel.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Theatre, Playwriting, Scripting, Creative Direction, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2+ years of experience in event creation, live entertainment, or leisure & attractions.
- Versatile experience in directing and/or writing live entertainment productions, narratives, immersive experiences, and/or interactive installations.
- Experience in creating permanent experiences and also short-term experiences.
- Experience and/or knowledge in food, beverage and merchandise and incorporating into experiences and/or events.
- Passionate about leisure and entertainment attractions.

- Proven ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, projects, ad hoc assignments, and deadlines.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) or willingness to learn.

- Independent worker with capacity for multi-tasking.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability/experience in light choreography and movement is a plus.
- A flexible schedule allowing for approximately up to 40% travel.
