The Role

We are looking to appoint an experienced Private Client Associate to join our London team.

Our London team is well established and collaborative, comprising two partners, a senior associate, two associates, a solicitor, a consultant, a paralegal and five legal assistants.

The team has a strong international focus, advising clients across a wide range of jurisdictions. Led by Estelle Tague, the London International Private Client team supports clients with private client matters worldwide. In addition, the team includes a specialist French Private Client practice, providing cross jurisdictional advice acting for English, French and wider European clients.

This is a fast-paced role offering a high level of variety, making it particularly suited to someone who thrives in a dynamic and evolving environment.

The successful candidate will ideally have a minimum of 3 years PQE, with experience in international private client matters.

As an Associate you will be expected to consistently deliver a high standard of legal advice to clients in a commercially astute manner, always delivering outstanding client service. You will actively assist with the marketing of the department’s services and undertaking business development activities to support the growth of the firm and team / sector. Supervision of juniors in the team.

Key Responsibilities

Personalised Client Service

  • Manage a caseload of files, dealing effectively with cases and transactions.
  • Build credibility with clients and develops own client relationships through managing client expectations regarding options, outcomes, risk and timescales.
  • Scope fees for existing clients
  • Develop market and sector knowledge and demonstrate expertise to clients.
  • Be proactive in reducing risk and exposure in the team and support in building a risk culture.
  • Aware of all relevant risk processes and procedures and adheres to these.

Sustainable Growth

  • Grow internal and external networks of clients, intermediaries and contacts.
  • Build on personal and department profile and reputation by attending networking events, writing publications/ marketing materials and speaking at seminars.
  • Begin to develop a niche/ sector expertise.
  • Assist in team/ sector pitches as required.
  • Active in seeking and moving on opportunities to sell your own and the firm’s services and sector expertise.

Dynamic Culture

  • Take responsibility for managing aspects of projects that are delegated and meet deadlines.
  • Support juniors in the team by giving technical, business and general advice.
  • Ensure a good flow of communication to senior lawyers but also more junior members of the team.
  • Delegating tasks and client work to juniors and support staff, providing clear instructions and monitoring progress.
  • Continue to develop your self awareness and build on your PDP, aligned to the department plan, core behaviours and RWKG behaviours.

Financial & Operational Excellence

  • Track progress against your own KPIs, meeting targets
  • Support with budgetary management of client matters
  • Apply all business processes and use resources effectively & efficiently.
  • Understand the changes in the practice area/legal sector and the implications for the firm.
  • Look outside of department and consider implications of all decisions on the business.
  • Set personal objectives that are aligned to the department/ sector plan. Understand how these fit into the firm-wide business plan
Skills, Experience, and Attributes
  • Qualified Solicitor/ Legal Executive (essential).
  • Previous experience within International Private Client Matters 3+ PQE (essential).
  • Ability to manage own files and delegate work to others (essential).
  • Strong client management skills with a focus on delivery of excellent client service (essential).
  • Ability to coach and mentor junior lawyers (desirable).
