An opportunity has arisen for an Associate to join our Clinical Negligence team in Bristol. Our Clinical Negligence team deals with varying clinical negligence matters ranging from birth injury to dental negligence. Our clients trust us to handle their cases, whether simple or complex, with empathy and expertise, to deliver effective resolution.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of files, dealing effectively with cases
  • Build credibility with clients and develop own client relationships through managing client expectations regarding options, outcomes, risk and timescales
  • Manage and deal effectively with a variety of transactional projects / matters
  • Scope fees for existing clients
  • Develop market and sector knowledge and demonstrate expertise to clients
  • Be proactive in reducing risk and exposure in the team and support in building a risk culture
  • Grow internal and external networks of clients, intermediaries and contacts
  • Support juniors in the team by giving technical, business and general advice
  • Manage time recording, WIP monitoring and billing consistently on files and matters
  • Work toward personal and team KPIs, measuring performance against these
  • Ensure understanding of the department's strategic goals and set own personal activities / objectives to align with them

Qualifications

  • Qualified solicitor minimum 4 PQE
  • Experience in higher value/complex birth injury litigation
  • Previous experience of assisting Partners with complex matters
  • Ability to coach and mentor junior lawyer
