- Personal Injury team is seeking an experienced
Senior Associate (6+ PQE) to join our well-established and growing practice in the South West.
The team recruiting for this role advises on a broad range of complex matters, including: fatal claims, claims for injuries caused by animals, cycling claims and claims on behalf of vulnerable people.
We are looking for a Senior Associate with specialist experience in fatal road traffic accident claims to join our supportive team.
The Bath based personal injury team comprises of three partners, two senior associates, three associates, two solicitors, a Chartered Legal Executive, four paralegals, an executive assistant, five legal assistants and an injury content creator.
In this role, you will work closely with Mark Hambleton, a Legal 500 and Chambers ranked Partner, and head of the Bath Personal Injury team.
As a Senior Associate, you will play a key role in the continued growth and development of the team while delivering an exceptional standard of client service.
You will contribute to implementing the business plan, alongside taking on selected line management responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Effective and efficient delivery of work on own matters, ensuring matters are profitable and work is resourced at the right levels.
- Build effective relationships with own clients and / or referrers by exceeding client service expectations and where appropriate, support partners on the management and development of larger key clients.
- Agree services being provided to clients with a clear basis for charging and pricing.
- Demonstrate market/ sector knowledge to ensure solid legal advice is given.
- Make decisions on client matters with minimal supervision, referring to partners where appropriate on highly complex or new areas of work.
- Identify, select and where appropriate, manage external experts or consultants.
- Apply rules of professional conduct and be aware of the broader risks to the department and firm. Monitor others to ensure risks are minimised.
- Sustainable Growth
- Develop a profile as an established expert.
- Input and implement ideas into the departmental business plan and demonstrate new business success from the BD activities.
- Expand network of clients and/or referrers and supports partners in pursuing target clients, intermediaries and contacts with a view to building a pipeline of new business.
- Develop an internal network of contacts to increase cross-referred work.
- Support pitch teams by attending pitches, writing materials and preparing documents where required.
- Dynamic Culture
- Supervise and coach others within the team, delegating work appropriately and ensuring quality output.
- Help to manage department and cross functional projects and initiatives, taking specific responsibility and accountability.
- Continue to develop yourself, setting challenging personal goals, aligned to the CDF, leadership behaviours and RWKG values
- Financial & Operational Excellence
- Develop a clear understanding of department KPIs and performance and your personal contribution towards these.
- Keep abreast of changes in the legal/ sector or practice area and input ideas to the department strategy including product/ service lines and take responsibility for driving parts of the strategy
- Understand the firm’s strategic priorities and how personal objectives are aligned. Refer regularly to the department business plan to understand progress against this.
Skills, Experience, Attributes
- Qualified Solicitor/Legal Executive (essential).
- Substantial previous experience within Personal Injury, specifically Fatal RTA claims. (essential).
- Strong client management skills with a focus on delivery of excellent client service (essential).
- Proven ability to win new business through successful BD activity (essential).
- Solid business plan for growth proposition within the department/sector (desirable).
- Ability to manage a small team (desirable).
