Qualifications Required:

  • Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy program
  • NJ State Occupational Therapy License
  • Maintained registration by the American Occupational Therapy Certification Board
  • Satisfactory completion of NBCOT Certification Examination and maintenance of registration
  • AHA BLS Provider Certification
  • Twelve-week pediatric affiliation or pediatric experience
  • Knowledge of developmental theory, physical and percepto-cognitive disabilities, and psycho-social aspects of functional adaptation
  • Ability to evaluate performance disruptions and plan treatments
  • Tact and judgment in duties
  • Commitment to skill improvement
  • Effective teamwork skills
  • Good verbal and written English communication skills

Preferred:

  • Master's degree

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • NJ State Occupational Therapy License
  • AHA BLS Provider Certification
  • American Occupational Therapy Certification Board registration
  • NBCOT registration

Essential Functions:

  • Administers and interprets assessment tools including history, screening, observations, and evaluations
  • Sets functional goals for remediation, compensation, or adaptation
  • Selects and evaluates treatment methods
  • Applies activity analysis principles to meet environmental demands
  • Communicates effectively with patients, families, team, physicians, and community contacts
  • Assists in training staff, COTAs, aides, and students
  • Seeks supervision when needed and contributes to improvement plans
  • Explains symptoms, prognosis, and limitations for diagnostic groups
  • Makes discharge recommendations considering prognosis and community resources
