RWE Renewables UK Management Ltd. is offering a full‑time fixed‑term role. Location: Coleg Llandrillo, Rhyl (North Wales) and Gwynt y Môr Offshore Wind Farm (Mostyn).

Requirements: 5 GCSE’s (or equivalent) at 4/C or above including Science, Maths and English.

Salary: £17,510 in the 1st year, rising incrementally each year in line with internal pay scales and the national minimum wage. Benefits include pension and private single medical cover.

About The Role: The apprenticeship delivers a comprehensive learning programme with classroom training and on‑site experience alongside experienced technicians. Completion yields an NVQ Level 3 qualification in Wind Turbine Operations and Maintenance and a Level 3 Diploma in Wind Turbine Maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Electro/Mechanical problem‑solving of wind turbines, working in small teams at height in remote locations using user manuals as reference.
  • Operate advanced mechanical, hydraulic and electrical equipment safely.
  • Plan tools, spares and materials required for each job prior to execution.
  • Fault find and diagnose turbine main components to determine if on‑site repair is possible or the unit requires exchange.
  • Pursue ongoing personal development to become a multi‑skilled technician covering inspection, maintenance and repair of wind turbines.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Willingness to learn and develop.
  • Interest in engineering.
  • Capable of working at height and at sea.
  • Willing to work shifts and standby or on‑call duties.
  • Must live within one hour of the site.

All apprentices will study full‑time for the first 2 years at Coleg Llandrillo, Rhyl in North Wales during term time before being deployed at Gwynt y Môr Offshore Wind Farm in Mostyn for the 3rd year to gain practical experience of working on a wind farm.

Important Dates:

  • Application closing date: 20th February 2026.
  • Assessment Centre: 21st April.
  • Start date: August 2026.

Accommodation/Travel: Term‑time accommodation provided with rent and utilities paid by RWE. Commute to college each day is paid unless group travel is arranged by RWE. Travel to the assessment centre: All reasonable travel costs to the assessment day will be paid by RWE and discussed upon invitation.

Holidays: 25 days (to be taken outside of term time), plus public holidays.
