We are looking for a highly motivated and team orientated Senior Solicitor to support RWE Generation UK plc’s (RWE Generation UK) fast developing core and energy transition business. The role will support RWE Generation UK’s commercial, procurement, construction, operation and corporate activities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal support to the procurement, commercial, construction, operation and corporate activities of RWE Generation’s business across all technologies.
  • Advise on, draft and settle procurement, commercial, construction and corporate related contracts required for the development, construction, maintenance, operation and energy transition of RWE Generation UK’s portfolio of gas, hydrogen, hydro and battery assets; and grid connection and grid service contracts.
  • Act as a prominent legal point of contact for the relevant commercial, procurement, regulatory and engineering teams on business projects and matters arising in relation to RWE Generation UK’s portfolio.
  • Coordinate specialised in‑house and external legal advice in a cost‑effective and work‑efficient manner and develop bespoke, customised solutions when needed to address complex project challenges.
  • Maintain oversight of all legal matters relating to projects and matters within your remit and advise senior management on all related legal risks, including claims and disputes.
  • Provide legal support (including liaising with external counsel) in relation to any disputes and legal matters arising out of projects and the ordinary course of business of RWE Generation UK.
  • Establish and nurture effective cross‑functional and cross‑cultural working relationships with legal and business colleagues in the UK and the wider RWE group and coordinate documentation and process improvement initiatives within RWE.

Job Requirements and Experience

  • Qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales.
  • Several years of work experience as a solicitor in a large law firm or company, working within the energy or infrastructure sector or with a focus on large‑scale and high‑value projects.
  • Solid working knowledge of international engineering, construction and procurement standard forms (e.g., NEC4).
  • Commercial and technical understanding of large industrial projects and a good understanding how to best support them from the legal point of view.
  • Experience of joint ventures including project finance.
  • Working experience of the Connection and Use of System Code and Grid Code.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, take on new responsibilities and set priorities in an environment.
  • Well‑developed organisational, analytical and communication skills and a solution‑oriented, positive and motivated mindset.
  • A high level of engagement at both project and stakeholder levels, an effective team member and ability to work with minimal supervision and with initiative as part of a wider cross‑functional team.
  • Fluent in English (other language skills are beneficial), an interest in AI and enjoys working in a national company being willing and able to undertake work‑related travel.
